The container could hold one liter of milk and was divided into four marked sections, so anyone visiting the milkman who wanted to buy less could request the amount they wanted.
The marked lines allowed pouring according to the buyer’s request.
The milk seller would place the milk cans inside the “sackaim” — the two sacks on the donkey’s back (made from mixed fabrics, since nothing was wasted…) — and the lid served as the measuring container for one liter.
