Meat grinder

The grinder was attached to the kitchen table using a screw clamp and a support at its base.
The rotating handle was connected at the back.
Chunks of meat were inserted into the top opening of the grinder while turning the handle.
The meat was pressed against the blades, pushed through, and came out in the form of “strands.”

The children used to put their fingers in to grab the “snakes” — the strands of ground meat — despite their mother’s warnings: Don’t get your fingers caught in the grinder, or you’ll end up with finger patties!”

For the sake of saving money, they used to put a lot of bread in the meatball mixture and… less meat, which allowed them to make more meatballs.
